The Sculpture Park Blokhus

The sculpture park Blokhus probably sounds most like an adult experience. But when we happened to end up there quite randomly with an 8-year-old boy and a big baby in our arms, we had a huge experience that our son still talks about. Blokhus Sculpture Park is definitely worth the drive and offers an oasis of art, sculptures, and garden art. We will definitely return, because little sister should also have that experience.

Sculptures

The sculptures are made from many materials such as sand, wood, granite, bronze, stone, metal, and concrete. There are many sculptures and perhaps it is Denmark's largest collection of sculptures. Every spring and summer, there is a sand sculpture festival with a specific theme. In 2024, the theme is the world's wildest discoveries. Previous topics have included Noah's Ark and Wild Vikings. You can also see the world's largest sandcastle on the site. The sculpture park is set in the most beautiful surroundings with a lake, winding paths, and beautiful and lush garden areas. Experience the sensory gardens and view the entire park from the observation tower.

Special Exhibitions

There are often special exhibitions at the venue. During 2024, you can experience a wax museum where you can "meet" Katy Perry, Brad Pitt, or Harry Potter. Copies of iconic monuments such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and the Statue of Liberty can also be experienced throughout 2024. Follow the website to see when the special exhibitions are available: Front page of the Culture House and Sculpture Park (kulturhusetblokhus.dk)

For the younger generations

There is an opportunity to try creating your own sand sculpture in the large sandbox. There is also plenty of other fun and play with the bounce house, knight's castle, giant chess, seesaw, slide, and swings.

Without food and drink

The café and the orangery are also a fixed part of the experience for many. The cafe serves classics such as the Blokhus tart, starshot, rib burger, and Blokhus bites. There are also kids' menus and desserts. Check out the menu here: The Culture House and the Sculpture Park (kulturhusetblokhus.dk)It may be a good idea during the peak season to book a table in advance. The café is located in the middle of the most beautiful orangery and is an experience in itself.

Magisk Christmas

Until Christmas, the park transforms into a magical Christmas land with 2 million Christmas lights. An experience with light and sound and a laser show of epic proportions. Experience Europe's longest glowing Christmas tunnel, nativity scene, Santa Claus, golden carriages, a giant Christmas tree, a kissing pergola, and much more. It's on our bucket list.
