Vejle Culture Museum

Experience Danish history from Vejle
Vejle contains a wealth of free experiences that are worth a visit. One of them is the Culture Museum, which tells the history of Denmark – from ancient times to yesterday – seen from Vejle. Here is a well-preserved bog body, Iron Age artifacts, special exhibitions, and plenty of hands-on activities for the children. You are impressed by how much museum and how many experiences you get for free.
Fixed exhibitions
The cultural center contains a number of permanent exhibitions. The place is best known for Queen Gunhild, a bog body from Haraldskær Mose. She is one of the best-preserved mummies in Denmark. She is lying in a glass coffin. You can get a sense of the life she lived through the atmosphere and sounds from Haraldskær Mose. Queen Gunhild was sacrificed more than 2,000 years ago and was held fast with hooks so she could not escape her sad fate.
The permanent exhibition also includes many archaeological finds from the Vejle area and numerous pictures of Vejle's development. The permanent exhibitions include, among other things, an exhibition about the work during the time when people moved to the city to work in factories, Vejle's cultural life "After Work," and Vejle's nightlife in recent times.
The museum is not a traditional museum, but emphasis has been placed on experiences. The museum is therefore filled with new knowledge and new technology and plenty of hands-on activities for all ages. The interactive dance floor is a huge hit, where you can test your skills in various classical dance styles.

Law Museum for the Little Ones
The Culture Museum also contains a small toy museum for the youngest members of the family. The topic is Vejle's industrial development. The children can try the cotton weight, operate a crane, or crawl in scaffolding. The Law Museum also offers the opportunity to hear a number of stories from Vejle, told by children. For slightly older children, the 8-meter-long digging box might be more interesting. Here they can use a metal detector and a shovel to search for hidden treasures.

Special Exhibitions
The Culture Museum has a number of ongoing special exhibitions worth visiting. Keep an eye on the current special exhibitions on the culture museum's homepage.
