Since 1958, Louisiana has been the flagship of modern art. The museum is built into nature and offers experiences both outdoors and indoors.

The permanent collection and the ongoing exhibitions

In Louisiana, you can experience both a collection of permanent works and exhibitions that are continuously rotated. Louisiana's permanent collection consists of works from 1945 to the present day. There are the most paintings and sculptures in the permanent collection. You just can't always see the entire fixed collection. Louisiana actually has over 4,000 works. Therefore, these works are continuously replaced and assembled in new ways. There are a number of works you can always find. Our favorite is Kusama's installation Gleaming Lights of the Souls, but the Giacometti Hall and Jorn Room are also worth a visit.

Louisiana prioritizes making space for its temporary exhibitions, where major international artists showcase their works. Keep an eye on which exhibitions are when on Louisiana's website. http://www.louisiana.dk.

Sculpture Park

Louisiana's park features large natural experiences and 45 artworks, each with a very different expression. Try to see if you can find them all. Some are large and hard to overlook, while other works are well hidden. You can visit Søhaven from the North Wing or the Children's House. The harbor is worth exploring.

The Children's House

The children's house is dedicated to those aged 4-16. In the Children's House, a range of creative activities are offered, based on the current exhibitions at Louisiana. Thus, it is advisable to visit the relevant exhibition first and then test your own artistic skills within the theme. In the Children's House, children can paint, draw, sculpt, and explore artists' working methods and expressions. It is advisable to wear some practical clothing, as you can expect to get dirty. The Children's House offers hours of activities for the child who enjoys immersing themselves in creative activities for extended periods.

Food and drink

Please note that it is not possible to enjoy brought food and drinks indoors at Louisiana. On a day with lovely mild weather, it doesn't matter. Here, the lunchbox can be enjoyed in the museum's garden and sculpture park overlooking the Øresund. From my own experience, it's a bit of a challenge on a rainy February day. The alternative is Louisiana's indoor cafe. Her servers finer cafes (and thus also in the expensive range). Note the menu for the youngest, who can only satisfy the smallest. It can therefore be difficult to find something in the cafe that your older child or teenager is willing to eat. In other words, it is recommended to eat before arriving in Louisiana if there are children in the group. A delicious cafe experience with a view of the Øresund can definitely be recommended for those without children.
